Going Camping

It's actually a Castro, but this loosely means Camp in early Roman. And it's in the open air.

Well, really, this is a pre-Roman camp, it has been established. It is pre-history, a Celtic camp of several hundred years BC. There are several of them in this area, but this one is right on the Camino and has been partially excavated. It was taken over by the Romans, and pieces of pottery have been found.

These castros were permanent or semi-permanent villages, that were fortified with concentric mounds around them, and often on the top of hills so they provided a good vantage point from which to spy both friends and enemies.
