Tapa Can You Hear Me?

A wonderful  Spanish invention are tapas (pintxos in Basque), small snacks that line every bar counter in the late afternoon and evening When you order your beer or wine, just point at the ones you want. The expensive ones cost a couple of euros. We have tried the following:
  • ·         Croquetas: imagine deep fried wallpaper paste mixed with ham and cheese and breaded. Yum
  • ·         Stuffed Peppers: imagine wallpaper paste mixed with fish and stuffed into a roasted pepper. Yum
  • ·         Deep fried prawns: what it says on the tin but the batter is really good and substantial. Maybe it's wallpaper paste.  Yum
  • ·         A vol-au-vent stuffed with imitation crab and a ton of mayonnaise. Yum.
  • ·         Mini rolls stuffed with lettuce, tomato, ham and cheese. Yum
  • ·         A slice of foie gras (some bars are very classy) sitting in a puddle of mango puree, with a swirl of balsamic reduction. Yum.
  • ·         A mini sausage roll stuffed with chorizo. Yum.
  • ·         A cocktail stick with a prawn, squid slice and something between an anchovy and a sardine covered in chopped pepper, tomato, onion and olive oil. Yum.
  • ·         A slice of tomato mounted by a slice of goats cheese covered in some kind of oniony jam. Yum.
And quite a few more we can't remember.

As as for the wallpaper paste, we think it's basically just mashed potato that has been creamed to the nth degree to bring out all the gluten.
